Martin,
ReplyDeleteI share your underwhelming feelings towards this series. Why another Betty after CafeReo's original Big Bird series? If F-Toys needed a big Japanese bird, there are several yet to be touched by the gashapon brigade. What about the Nakajima G8N1 Renzan "Rita"? Not yet in 1/144 and is definitely a heavy bomber.
And, if we went by past offerings in 1/144, you'd think the entire Allied bomber force was composed of Flying Forts and Lancs! If they wanted to do a B-17, why not an earlier variant like a B-17C? Thank heavens for Altaya/IXO with their recently released Halifax, Stirling and Wellington.
I wonder if they purchased the G4M moulds from F-Toys, just as F-Toys purchased the B5N and Shiden moulds from Bandai for their Wing Kit Collection? Seems to be a certain ammount of recycling taking place.
ReplyDeletemaybe...
ReplyDeletetye could have also purchased the Lancaster Design from another place?
ixo, A-model both have 1-44 lance either out now or this year!
of course tamiya does 1/172 lancs?
flippin heck, what a dogs breakfast. A Lanc just before A-Model release theirs, and a rehash of the Betty and Flying Fortress....sheesh. No doubt they'll be surprised when the set is a dismal flop too.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, hard to tell wether its just all insanity, bad timing, colusion or coincidence?
