1/144 E-8 "Joint Star" USAAF - Minicraft
===============================
The last B-707’s produced were purchased by the United States Air Force and the U.S. Navy in the early 1990’s . The reliable 707 proved to be the ideal aircraft to carry aloft the newly evolving electronic command and control radar systems needed for modern warfare. The E-8 Joint Star has proven to be yet another integral component in the command structure of military forces for real time command and control of ground forces and theatre electronic surveillance.
Markings included in this kit are:
- USAF E-8A JSTARS, 116th ACW, Georgia Air Guard
- USAF E-8A JSTARS, 93 ACW, Operation Desert Storm, 1991

I bought one of the E-3 kits, and was pretty disapointed. The only new tooling was one sprue with the radar dish and some other bumps and decals. The basic airframe is the EXACT same kit as the Minicraft 707 kit that has been available in various releases for years. It is a decent kit, but not worth the over $40.00 price tag. You can get just as nice an AWACS by taking the dish, struts & decals from a Revell kit and using them on a minicraft 707-320. The Revell E-3 is actually a C-135 airframe (a very different animal than a 707) with a dish. The Revell dish is a little, but not noticably, smaller. You could always make a new dish if it mattered that much to you.

Is there anything wrong with the Minicraft B707? It seems a dramatic improvement over the ancient Revell 707 to me.
