1/144 WWII German Bauform H667 Wargame Diorama Base - CGD

1/144 WWII German Bauform H667  Wargame Diorama Base - CGD

This new series combines the usage of the model both as a wargame accessory and as model diorama display. The GameDio base measures approximately 99mm (3.9 in.) Flat to Flat, which makes it sitting comfortably on common wargame Hex bases that measures 100mm flat to flat. It measures approximately 114mm (4.5 in. ) tip to tip. This is a two part model painted in Beach Painting Scheme. The top of the bunker opens for placement of anti tank guns and troops.

This 1:144 WWII German Bunker Bauform H667 is a simplified design based on the Bauform H667 used in Normandy Exit E-1, on Omaha Beach (D-Day). These bunker types were usually armed with 5cm Kwk 39/40 (coming soon form CGD). This model has enough room to up-gun to Pak43,and with crew:

Individually cast in resin, hand painted to the finest detail. 100% made in Hong Kong.
A perfect display base for your 1:144 wargaming and/or displaying your collection of Dragon or Takara WTM 1:144 tanks. Also suitable for N scale and 12mm models.

Also available in Summer, Autumn, Desert and Winter painting scheme, and unpainted too.

1/144 T-34/85 & Czech Bunkers - ROPIK

1/144 T-34/85 & Czech Bunkers - SAMEK/ROPIK
Last year I featured the Samek/Ropik range of Resin cast Czechoslovakian bunkers from this small producer in the Republic, see KG144BBS here

Thr subjects covered are Czech built light bunker (light Objects) defences from the 1936+ period.
Photos and Text (use google translate etc) http://kocicak.mysteria.cz/opevneni/lehke_opevneni/lehke_opevneni.htm
More photos, plus ground plans: http://www.military.cz/opevneni/lo.html

The price for these is @ 90-150 Czech Koruna , and shown above the limited edition T-S 73 'Stachelberg' kit at 499 Czech Koruna which are very reasonable price for these items. The translation appears to say "ceramic" but i think that "Plaster of Paris"/Gypsum Plaster maybe more apt and explain the pricing?

In addition to the bunkers, is a all new resin T-34/85 kit with photo etched tracks, price to be determined

1/144 Hanger, HAS & Bunker - By GPM

1/144 Hanger, HAS & Bunker - By GPM.

GPM is a Polish company that I first bought to your attention some time back in 2007, since that time they have expanded their 1/144 range by introducing a range of more affordable and user friendly card based models (inc transparencies for windows where appropriate). The range now includes an excellent WWII Hanger, and a Cold War style Modern Hardened Aircraft Shelter.

The basic construction of these items is based on varying thicknesses of laser-cut card and hard boards that whilst having some colour lend themselves to being painted and enhanced with additional railway style diorama products.

The hangers and shelters are nice renditions of the items concerned, and if ever you wanted to build one of the 1945 style bombed out Luftwaffe Hangers this is the once. Its not too expensive and would be easy to cut and distress to get that beleaguered effect!? (It obviously looks great fully intact too!)

The post-war Hardened Aircraft Shelter would look great certainly for an Warsaw Pact style diorama, but would also look good with other aircraft of that period.

If you have the built the Tom-Tom hanger these should not be too much of a stretch beyond that, if you haven't it would be worth while having a practice on the Tom-Tom hanger to get your and and eye experienced.

The postage on either of the Hanger or Todt card based items is fairly standard, the postage on the Todt Batterie is likely to be much more and worth noting this at the checkout! It was a pleasure however to be on the receiving end of prompt and quick Post (credit to the Polish Mail Service and Royal Mail!)

The Todt Batterie is slightly different scenario. It is a 'mixed media' kit and contains metal, card and 'plaster of Paris' based components (these are the heavy parts) such as the casement and some of the surrounding parts. It is worth noting that to make a truly excellent job of your Todt Batterie then some additional modelling and landscaping would be required.

CGD diorama commission for DivisionPanzer144

CGD diorama commission for DivisionPanzer144

I thought you would like to see this build project, both for the ideas around it and the method and techniques possible in its construction.

A lot of thought has gone into this build to ensure the maximum flexibility in its usage and display capabilities. Additionally though has been given to maximising the variety of features without it looking too over cooked.

The design brief was to take the style of a previous build and expand this to a 77 x 32 cm base plate. Then there was a need to be able to show various model types in a range of scenarios.

Therefore we have naturally inspired mountains, tunnels, rivers and plateaus these are then overlayed with Bunkers, Platforms, Ramps, Roads, Bridges and Railways.... and, did I mention secret V-Weapons launch facility?

This will enable the display of WTM and Can.do armour etc, including the Dragon PanzerKorps railway items and Leopold(K5) guns, right upto the secret V-Weapons from Takara WOTL! and of course the CGD launch tower!!

Initially a few CAD drawings were created as the design was developed and discussed (this can be seen in the initial image set) this shows how the original picture evolved as extra features were added and refined.

Once it was felt that the design was suitable mature a physical mock up was produces and a photo taken, then this was "painted" to make it look more representative of the future model! Once agreed a full and proper ground plane was designed and the the build started for real!

There will be more updates to this build as time goes forward and I look forward to seeing it develop!

If it had been me, I might have been tempted to add an extra section at the front to cover the "edge" of an airfield or airbase, so I could sneak a few more planes in if needed - However, upon reflection that may have been too much and reduced the overall effect!?

Maybe it would just be as well to construct a separate diorama for that!? V-weapons and Airbase (perhaps with underground sections......!?)

1/144 H667 "Bauform" Bunker - from CGD

This bunker from CGD is based upon the German Type H667 "Bauform" casemate.

The bunker is situated at the mouth of Exit E-1, on Omaha Beach (D-Day).

The location is actually the valley of a small river, the Ruquet, which flows from the villages of Colleville-sur-Mer and St. Laurent-sur-Mer above down to the sea.

CGD has produced a very nice bunker based upon a historic German design, but in modular form to allow for maximum flexibility. It will work with WTM PAK40 guns and has a 'widget' stand to allow for the WTM 88 (minus shield and cruciform mounts) to be used. The main bunker section can be 'flipped'. As seen in the photos the defence arm and rear entrances can be swapped or removed as required depending on your needs.

1/144 CG Dynamix (CGD) Diorama & Wargame

1/144 CG Dynamix (CGD) Diorama & Wargame

CGD have released a new range of interesting 1/144 items, while these are aimed at 'wargaming' i think they could work equally well as diorama or display pieces.

For the Panzerturms, at last you have a purpose for all those spare can.do Panthers!?

The Panther turrets are not included, and obviously if you felt inclined you could use turrets from other tanks. One of the Panzerturms is designed as "Berlin: Last Days of the Reich" and the other as a "west wall" piece, I think it would also be possible to use these as 'Cold War' fortifications as i think similar constructions were used in Switzerland, Czechoslovakia and other Eastern Bloc Counties!? Or, maybe ata push - A Golan Heights Compaign?

The Bridge system is interesting as there are various starter packs and extension packs available, obviously a combination of these packs could make for an a) interesting or, b) long bridge.

Finally, there is a nice little bunker (88mm not included)

these can be found on CGD ebay store.
