1/144 Bristol Beaufighter MK.IF/IC/VI - Mark I

1/144 Bristol Beaufighter MK.IF/IC/VI - Mark I

Everyone is releasing each others kits this year! Following on from the F-Toys announcement, now comes more Beaufighters from Mark I.

The Bristol Beaufighter was a British long-range heavy fighter, developed early in 1939 from the Beaufort torpedo bomber. It became an efficient night-fighter, employing the then novel AI radar. Following short-term development the first prototype flew in July 1939 and the first aeroplanes reached the squadrons in the summer of the next year.

The Beaufighter was a two-seat, twin engine, all-metal mid-wing cantilever monoplane, fitted with a retractable undercarriage. It was powered by two Hercules radial engines and the armament consisted of four cannons in the nose, four guns in the starboard wing and another two guns in the port wing.

The Beaufighter Mk.IF was destined for RAF Fighter Command units, while the Mk.IC, fitted with an additional radio and navigational equipment, was a dedicated long-range fighter for the Coastal Command. Total production of both variants reached 914 aircraft.

The Beaufighter had a long career and served in almost all theatres of war during the WWII, at first as a night fighter, then as a fighter-bomber and eventually being used as a torpedo-bomber.

An nice little set of figures for your dioramas or railroad/railway layouts, clearing rubble, laying tracks or building installations these should add an extra bit of detail and realism. All, we need know is a girl on a bicycle for them to 'wolf whistle' at! (Although, of course I couldn't possibly condone such sexist behavior!)

1/144 Polish TKS Tankettes- CGD

1/144 Polish TKS Tankettes- CGD

CG Dynamix (CGD) has launched a new series of Micro Tankettes, despite there tiny size they were very effective against the German panzers in 1939. The small size and low profile made it difficult for the german tank gunners to track and target these machines, additionally thier 20mm and 37mm AT guns were more than match for most German armour of the day.

1/144 Westland Lysander MK. I / II - Foxone

Foxone has release a new set of kits, the 1/144 Westland Lysander MK. I and Mk II.

I think these are great and am glad to see this kit produced. It is one of those unsung hero's of WWII, not the fast sexy fighters such as the Spitfire or P-51D, or the city destroying Lancaster's or B-17s, it is however an important and interesting aircraft.

Working initialy in it Liaison role and subsequently in its more famous role of landing and retrieving SOE Special Agents into occupied Europe.

The Lysander was flown by around the world by over 12 airforces and services in WWII and afterwards:
