1/144 Northrop Low-Altitude Penetrator (1979) - Fantastic Plastic

Northrop Low-Altitude Penetrator (1979) - Fantastic Plastic
B-2 Bomber Alternative Proposal

Before the B-2 "Spirit" stealth bomber design was finalised in the early 1980s, two separate mission profiles were  studied. One was high-altitude penetration, the approach that resulted in broad-winged stealth bomber we all know and love today. The other was for low-altitude penetration. This approach called for a more streamlined, arrow-like air frame.

Although never formalised, Northrop and Boeing studies from the period suggest what such a Low-Altitude Penetrator (LAP) might have looked like. The plane would have been less efficient than the B-2...but no less beautiful and intimidating.
