1/144 Geschutzwagen IVb in ABS-L - Kampfflieger by CGD

1/144 Geschutzwagen IVb in ABS-L - Kampfflieger by CGD
Towards the end of September 1939, Krupp designed the "first real self-propelled artillery piece", the Sonderkraftfahrzeug 165/1 (Special Purpose Vehicle 165/1, abbreviated Sd.Kfz. 165/1). After a series of tests, the Sd.Kfz. 165/1 was accepted by the Wehrmacht in early January 1940. In 1941, Krupp built prototype vehicles armed with the 105 mm leichte Feldhaubitze 18/1 L/28 (light field howitzer 18/1 L/28, abbreviated leFH 18/1 L/28) cannon based on a modified Panzer IV chassis. The prototypes were fitted with a smaller six-cylinder Maybach HL66P engine, which had a power capacity of 188 hp (140 kW). Although 200 vehicles were ordered, Krupp completed only 10 prototypes in the final four months of 1942. These saw service on the Eastern Front.

Designed by Kampfflieger, here produced in a special edition by CGS in ABS-L

1/144 Wehrmacht '46 German Panzer IV mit Schmalturm - CGD

1/144 Wehrmacht '46 German Panzer IV mit Schmalturm

This is a new 1:144 Wehrmacht '46 German Panzer IV mit Schmalturm 7.5cm L/70 (KwK 42) from the new Wargame Armour series of CGD. This vehicle is fully painted in 3 Colour disruptive Camouflaged scheme. Weathered and no assembling required.

The model features a rotating turret and two detachable Schurzen. Infrared devices are also built into the commander's hatch and driver's view port.

"Panzer IV mit Schmalturm 7.5cm L/70 (KwK 42)" - Panzer IV was the most widely manufactured and deployed German tank in WWII since late 1930s. Facing ever increasing thickness of enemy armour especially the Russians, Panzer IVs were up gunned form the short barrelled low velocity gun to the long barreled 7.5 cm Kwk 40 L/43 high velocity anti tank gun. In Late 1944 to early 1945, Schmallturm (Small Turret) initially developed for Panther Ausf F was also considered to be mounted onto the Panzer IV chassis with a 7.5cm L/70 (KwK 42) used by the original Panther. The war ended before the original Panther Ausf F/Schmallturm project could get pass the prototype stage. None of the Panzer IV mit Schmalturm was ever built.

Dameya.net and New Releases!

Dameya.net and New Releases!
Dameya has relaunched his website http://www.dameya.net/  for Domestic Japanese customers, with a more modern layout and sophisticated features.

However, fear not, outside of Japan you can still order via Dameya's Shapeways Store!  His latests models are both old favourites and new items to 1/144 (and possibly wider scales?)

1/144 PzKpfw IV ausf.D (Kit)
This workhorse of the Wehrmacht is provided here in exceptional detail for a 1/144 kit, I think this release may have something to do with the sucess of "Girls und Panzer" Anime? (see below!)

1/144 Panjandrum (Kit)
A quick google search doesn't reveal an other models of the item, along with Hobart's Funnies, it was conceived to counter act German defences on the beaches of Normandy by smashing a path through obstacles in its path. Although spectacular it was not a very effective device and it never reached full production. (see also CGDs Hobarts funnies)

1/144 sIG33 15cm Heavy infantry cannon (Kit)
Another finely produced kit of the largest designated infantry weapon, designed not as an antitank weapon but rather for demolishing obstacles and strong points/bunkers. It was also mounted on or integrated into other self-propelled platforms

1/144 WWII German Panzerjäger/StuG Crew(s) - CGD
This set contains 8 "Thigh Height" and 3 "Full Height" German Panzerjäger/StuG Commanders and crews in various poses, fully painted in Heer Feldgrau uniforms.

These "Thigh Height" figures are for fitting into the commander's cupola and other hatches.

The three "Full Height" figures are specifically for manning open topped tank hunters like Nashorns or Marders.

The set also come with UNPAINTED circular and rectangular hatches for conversion.

Figures thigh measures roughly 2.5mm in diameter. Using a 3mm diameter drill bit, customer can bore through existing tank hatches and replace it with open hatches.

**Figures are PAINTED. Hatches are NOT, Vehicles NOT included.**

Modelled according to average Caucasian of height 5' 8" to 5' 10" (1.73m to 1.78m). Figure measures approximately 12mm when standing upright (for full figures). Highly detailed, highly realistic and in real human proportion. NOT big headed cartoon-ish wargame figures!

1/144 German Armoured Draisine Kits - Brengun.cz
Although I have focused on on or two of these Draisines from Brengun in the past, I thought it opportune to review the series to-date. Curiously the series has been joined by a 'Kugelblitz' varient Draisine of the "What If" variery, the other t3x items represent historical vehicles.

1/144 E-50 'Krokodil' Jagdpanzer (Panzer '46) - by CGD

1/144 E-50 'Krokodil' Jagdpanzer (Panzer '46) - by CGD

Modelled after a speculative drawing showing a Jagdpanzer developed from the E50 chassis. The gun compartment is in the aft position of the chassis similar to Elefant.

This design has the advantage of reducing the overall length of the vehicle which is important as Germans tried to mount bigger and bigger guns onto vehicles. This also meant that the engine of the vehicle would have to be placed in the front or middle part of the vehicle.

But unlike the Elefant which had a relatively vertical front armour plate on the superstructure, the speculative drawing shows a slanting armour plate following the angle of the front chassis. This covers up almost half of the location of the engine and servicing such vehicle would be very difficult.
This model try to reduce the seating area of the driver as much as possible to allow more space to service the engine but still most part of the engine are being covered up. The driver and the radio operator would be very uncomfortable sitting in their position.

The speculative drawing also shows exhaust pipes at the rear of the chassis. This design is also flawed because as the engine is now seated in the middle, ducting will have to be constructed to channel the exhaust back to the rear passing the crew compartment. If the ducting were inside the compartment, any leakage will suffocate the crews inside.

1/144 F-Toys Battle Tank Kit Collection

Finally, a new company takes up the baton of 1/144 armour....

1. T-34/85
2. Panther G
3. Pzkpw III

This is good news and bad news.

The good news is that someone is attempting to produce 1/144 armour again,
The bad news is that we have all seen these items before, and currently the paint work looks a little "early prototype"

However, if this gets the next generation of Japanese collector interested? Then maybe there could be more??

Part assembly required.

Available: May 2010.
Price: 475 Yen (each item)
