Whilst I'm not a modern AFV collector, there are some interesting items here. With a rocket launcher included, it makes me wonder whether we'll see items like Screaming Mimi Shermans or WW2 Katyusha batteries in the scale.

I've probably missed something in the Pro-Hobby range, but they are hard to come by (at least, down my way). And it's high time Takara or Dragon did a series of British AFVs of WW2. With the exception of a Sherman Firefly (which is Canadian anyway!), I've only succeeded in getting a limited run resin Bishop SP thusfar, thanks to Chikara (Starjet).

What about a Crusader, Cromwell, Comet, Churchill, Valentine, etc., etc., etc.? And a quad limber and 25 pdr wouldn't go astray either!

BD,

Would I be right in assuming that the detail on the Wargames South items is considerably better than the Pithead items? This appears to be the case looking at the photos on each site, and is supported by comments from the Swiss collector who did the comparison of T34s, the link for which appears on this blog. How do they compare with Pro-Hobby? (I have the Panzerbefelswagen I).

Whilst not cheap, there's certainly a few items of interest to me, including the Churchills, the Cromwell and the Opel Maultier.

Smeg,

you comments are fairly accurate,
WargamesSouth is in the market palce and competing against the liks of mini figs etc. It is also certainly true that with some of there recent releases WGS have raised the bar for detailing especially in the tracks department!

Pithead should be consdiered more of a "garage producer" certainly the owner isnt "full time" - therefore should really be compared to Pro-hobby.

to be honest, the pithead stuff does vary, i still think that some of the pictures do not however do the products justice!

i think on balance, that the pithead is as good if not better than the prohobby (obviosuly prohobby sources master from differnt model maker, pithead is a one man band). if your familar with some of the model railway vechile producers it they are also much better than most of those such as Fleetline or Gems, albiet (marks metall modelles og germany and metal classics of the us are in different leagues)

if you look back at my panther comparison you will see the pithead panther there!

WGS also caters for the mass appeal items, hence your panzers and t-34s etc.

Pithead try and fill the gaps in your collection by producing fringe products some of which are not available else where!
