1/144 IL2M3 Sturmovik - Resin Import Kit , sold by MiniMF in Japan

Just posted a picture of this item that I have just finished that afriend sent me a little time ago.

First time I've done a proper resin aircraft kit and I dont think ithas turned out too badly.I know there are a few thinkgs wrong about it, like techincally thecolours are not proper Russina Green and Browns as my paintcollection is actually geared up for armour and Luftwaffe... but fora "paint brush" job, I think it captures that Russian "rustic" look?

Generally not a bad kit, had to do a bit of work to remove theexcess flash and moulding artefacts and had to recarve the exhauststo give a little more definition. Had a little problem with theundercarrage doors (but thats the price you pay with the wheels downappraoch) and the "clear" resing canopy was interesting...I had not attempted painting up a canopy to this degree complexitybefore, however it think it about works.

I dont have any fancy tools or techniques to do this with so a bit of primer and a tiny brush - then back over it with paint later... If anyone has any advice inthis area I would appreciate it.The hardest part was finding a couple of consistant images of theweb to provide a reference point for the canopy, some where clear,some had canvas blinds, other appeared to have solid sections etc...

I also had to cut the guns and pylons to length, so if they look alittle longer than expected thats why!

The other point I wasnt aware of was the layout of national logo's.They seem to have a set on the fuselage AND tailplane, but none onthe upper wing. They appear to have them on the lower wing but couldfind enough photos to establish if they used one or two - so I wentfor two. I added the number to the tail plane as thats where I hadseen most numbers, although again I had seen them on the fuselage..

-at least with the RAF & Luftwaffe you know exactly where all this stuff is meant to go!!

Any hints or tips are welcome, as I have a few other items lined up!

1/144 New Maus & E-100 Sets !!

There appears to be a new few new sets of Dragon Armour coming out!
I have pcitures for one half of each of the two new sets!

Well, there new - there not radically different, but they are different to the other released.

Most of all makes a change from another MORSER set!!

1/144 BANDAI WING CLUB 4 !!!! ???? (March 2006)

I'd seen a rumour..., now i have more info.
A mixed selection, a couple of aircraft not seen before like the gekko, IL-2 and f86F(?).
The other aircraft have already been done by Bandai or Ftoys by the looks of things...
still i think i will have one of two!!
Not sure what the story is regardong the F86??? surely not of the same period of the others?
As long as its not an Adolf Galland or Hartmann bf109 it wont be too bad!

1/144 Canvas - Japanese Late-Planning/Protoype

When it comes to collecting aircraft, I usually just collect WWII German Planes, however.
I have made an exception here and the (American X-Planes) and unusual Japanese Fighters etc!

With this in mind I present a series of Aircraft that are Rare in the west!

1/144 Japanese Late Planning Fighters made by CANVAS (?)

I have only everseen these on sale on very rare occasions and now they go for stupid money...

They appear to be proper gashopon and come in little bags in pieces, however they are better quality than Furuta items but not quite upto the recent Bandai Wing Club Standards. I suspect the Canvas aircraft are a few years old?

ANy informtion about CANVAS or the manufactuere of this series would be appreciated!

Finally the KIKKA may look like a Me-262 copy - but they are not... well not exactly they where inspired by Me-262 and where the subject of a technology deal between Japan and Germany but it was never completed. The Japanese carried on and developed a Jet fighter that looked like the Me262 but was not a direct copy! - This is further evident in that the Japanese KIKKA's are actually smaller in dimensions that the German figher. The sushsi is proabbaly similer but I need to carry out my reasearch.

1/144 Modeling / Paint Advice?

I quite like the look of the spare turret provided on one of these special... I would like to do a whole tank in this style?

Apart from the marks and scrapes which could be replicated with tools and paste, anyone got ideas as to the best method of reproducing the effect given, in real life and perhaps not captured very well here it is a two tone/colour effect with a slightly metalic brown/rust(?) effect with a blackened "wash" or "Dry brush" Effect?

1/144 Special editon "Maus" & "E-100" Panzers! (Cyber-Hobby)

I bought myself these for Christmas after having my eye on them for a while, in the end I just had to have them!

They are based uon the Dragon edtions, but released via thier subsiduary/partner(?) Cyber hobby, each comes with a numbered card to indicated the "Limted Edition"

Not sure whey they didnt do more, or why there where not released as "normal" Dragon Armour/Can.do edition?? - anyone have any ideas ?????

1/144 Gun Sections from Yamato sets!

These are interesting looking items, I have seen them listed on a number of Japanese sites for a short time now. The appear to be guns sets from the 1/700 Yamata ship range, yet these beauties are in 1/144!!

I think they look good enough to collect for there own sake and could look great in a diorama in the right hands....?

Back to basics!

I promise the next set of posts will be "proper 1/144 Military" items!!!

no idea as to the scale, but intersting little craft that could work on a 1/144 level.

Work ok in scale with WWII items, maybe a little small compared to some modern aircraft?

The other item is a BANDAI VTOL in 1/144, makes for an interesting Transport aircraft!?

alot of this stuff can be puchased from various places on the web - i tend to find "lobery" (ebay) has a varied range and often some interesting unusal items in this area if you like this kind of thing!

1/144 ZAKU Craft

ok, thi is the gundam bit...

this odd craft is mean to be a "surfboard" type affair for the previously posted Zaku (Blue) to stand on.... Thought it might be interestingto work on and it is 1/144

Amerika Bomber?

Not sure if this is Gundam or not... (To be honest not a big Gundam fan) , but it is still from an Anime Sci-Fi Series of yesteryear in japan.

You can get a lot of this stuff in two sizes "little" and "large"....
One of the series "STARBAZERS" can be bought in a huge boxset with leterally 30 or more kits all in a 1/1200 scale + some others... They range froma a few inches to well over 6-8 depending on the kit.

As you may imagine, I buy the "little" versions of the kits.

This kit is actually 1/550, but with a bit of work I think it would make a good ARADO Style AMERIKA Bomber!? I think those Luft'46 fans out there will see where I am coming from with this one... loose the legs, and ther loose the tailplane or mount it the other otherway up??

The Robots are coming...............

Flash Gordon!? Drägerwerke Experimental pressure suit

I know its not 1/144, but there is a link somewhere in there!

This is a shot of a early or prototype high pessure suit for german aviators during WWII, it had been contemplated being used on one of the Horten Brothers Flying wing projects!

POPY's Projekt Flieger Series contained a 1/144 H0229 in 3x paint schemes.
