1/144 AModel C-130

1/144 AModel C-130
-----------------------
.
Amodel have released their C-130 kit, if it is anything like the recent Lancaster these should be very high quality and work adding to your collection if you like modern aircraft!

Looking at the length, it would appear to be an early version?

also, these picture are of the pre-production prototypes!

It would appear these should be in your model shops soon!

....Now, I wonder when they are going to release that 1/144 Manchester RAF bomber?

Anyone know if this is an improvement over the Minicraft release? Doesn't seem like it's much better, not that there was anything seriously wrong with the Minicraft.

The photos aren't great, but as best as I can tell, this new kit makes a C-130A, B or E. My initial impression as C-130 flight engineer is that the props are pretty inaccurate, and like Minicraft, A-Model overlooked SKE radomes. It does appear that A-Model got the C-130A external fuel tanks about the right size. Minicraft's C-130A tanks are way too big. I'm hoping that Minicraft will get some more mileage out of their C-130 tooling by adding new sprues to make a C-130H, an MC or HC-130 and maybe even (said while biting my tongue) a C-130J.

Minicraft has had the C-130J scheduled for release for the past 6 months, along with an AC-130A. The J variant was actually supposed to be out in December, but perhaps the collapse of the world economy had something to do with the release being pushed back.

Braz models' resin fuselage for a J variant is worth picking up if you can't wait. It's very well done, and is their typical high quality release. Costs about the same as a new Minicraft, although it's just the fuselage to be used with the rest of the Minicraft parts.

i remember see the braz models photo etched interior for the c-130 at the 2007 IMPS UK Sho at Telford. That was series skill required!
