1/144 Aeritalia FIAT - G-91/R1 - Miniwing

Miniwing relase another interesting and overlooked item:
.
The Aeritalia FIAT - G-91/R1 was the first of a number of marks that ensured this little
aircraft saw service from 1958 until 1995. Used by a number of operators and evaluated by a series of others including the US.

The point the surprises about this aircraft is that it quite a small airframe, more like those of late WWII than the big beasts that followed such as the F-4 or F-14.

The most active user of this aircraft was Portual who used these aircraft in the 'end of empire' period in East Africa during the 1970s, indeed one of the decal schemes featured here if from the Moazambique period (see schema here).

Info: Wikipedia (FIAT G-91) other G-91 refs here & here

Miniwing has have again delivered another excellent little kit, with excellent production values. The kit is well produced and has no warping or visible airbubbles and should go together without to much trouble.

The canopy is vac-form, more tricky than a plastic, but more credible with regard to the "thickness of the canopy structure" and two are provided in case of mishap.

The decals are ALPs printed by YKRAFT of Japan.

Available: June 2010
Cost: 16.20 Euro

I hope somebody decides to make the two-seater variant (G-91T).
